Milica Vojinović ist Social Media Editor bei KRIK (Crime and Corruption Reporting Network), wo sie die Verbreitung investigativer Recherchen über digitale Plattformen vorantreibt. Vor ihrer aktuellen Position arbeitete Milica acht Jahre lang als Investigativjournalistin und Nachrichtenreporterin. In dieser Zeit berichtete sie über organisierte Kriminalität und Korruption in Serbien und entwickelte besondere Expertise bei der Untersuchung der Verbindungen zwischen organisierter Kriminalität und staatlichen Akteuren.
Für ihre journalistische Arbeit wurde Milica Vojinović mehrfach international ausgezeichnet. Unter anderem erhielt sie den CEI SEEMO Award for Outstanding Merits in Investigative Journalism in der Kategorie Best Young Professional Journalist. Darüber hinaus wurde sie zweimal mit dem European Union Award for Investigative Journalism for the Western Balkans and Türkiye ausgezeichnet – für ihre Recherchen zur organisierten Kriminalität.

She leads KRIK’s social media team, which produces journalistic content and expands the reach of major investigations into corruption and organized crime through social media.
Prior to her current role, Milica spent eight years working as an investigative journalist and daily news reporter, covering organized crime and corruption in Serbia. She has developed particular expertise in investigating the links between organized crime and state actors.
Milica’s work has received several international recognitions. She was awarded the CEI SEEMO Award for Outstanding Merits in Investigative Journalism in the category of Best Young Professional Journalist. She is also a two-time recipient of the European Union Award for Investigative Journalism for the Western Balkans and Türkiye, recognizing her investigations into organized crime.

Die Podiumsdiskussion beleuchtet den aktuellen Stand des Journalismus in verschiedenen Ländern und zeigt die unterschiedlichen Realitäten auf, mit denen Journalist:innen in ihrem Arbeitsalltag konfrontiert sind. Gemeinsam mit den Journalist:innen aus Bakary Ceesay aus Gambia, Peter Hanák aus der Slowakei und Milica Vojinović aus Serbien spricht Moderatorin Rosa Schmitz über unterschiedliche Medienlandschaften, Aus- und Weiterbildung von Journalist:innen, Pressefreiheit sowie die Herausforderungen im Kampf gegen Korruption und Desinformation in anderen Ländern.
Durch den Vergleich dieser Perspektiven mit der Situation in Österreich sollen sowohl gemeinsame Herausforderungen als auch länderspezifische Unterschiede sichtbar werden. Darüber hinaus diskutieren wir die Rolle des Journalismus für die Stärkung demokratischer Gesellschaften und gehen der Frage nach, wie europäische Länder unabhängige Medien und einen resilienten Journalismus weltweit unterstützen können.

The panel discussion explores the current state of journalism in different countries and highlights the diverse realities journalists face in their daily work. Together with journalists Bakary Ceesay from The Gambia, Peter Hanák from Slovakia and Milica Vojinović from Serbia Host Rosa Schmitz will discuss different media landscapes, the education and training of journalists, press freedom, and the challenges of combating corruption and misinformation in other countries.
By comparing these perspectives with the situation in Austria, the discussion aims to identify both shared challenges and country-specific differences. We will also explore the role of journalism in strengthening democratic societies and discuss how European countries can support independent media and resilient journalism around the world.
